Diamantina trip
Tomorrow I will be here for one month and so far I am having fun and enjoying the experience. I am gratefull for this amazing oppurtunity. When you are reading this blog for internship orientation and still have doubts about going to Brazil: Just go!!
Last weekend I was on a trip to Diamantina because the university was closed and I had a long weekend. I did not go on vacation this year so I thought I kinda deserved it. We went with a group of 21 people to Diamantina to explore the waterfalls. We rented cars and went to the beautiful former diamond mining colony.
The first day (August 13th) we drove to Diamantina and found a place to stay (see photo gallery) and then we went out for a walk in town and to a party. The night was amazing and I recieved a forró class from one of the locals. That made me realize that I really want to learn Portuguese very fast. I think I am doing okay but I still have to learn a lot. The rest of the night was dancing and kind of singing... XD
The second day we went to visit the waterfalls near Diamantina (Cachoeiras) named Biribiri, Cristal and Sentinela. The pictures are shown in the gallery. The waterfalls were amazing and the view of the landscape was indescribable. In one word amazing! At night we decided to order pizza and walk around the city for one last time.
The next day we went home again by car and I went to bed almost immediately because I was very tired. But it was an amazing weekend.
