Start of my internship
August 1st, the big day. So, yesterday I officially started my internship, after signing all the papers and reading the contracts (in Portuguese, I hope I understood everything properly). Today, my second day of the internship, I will talk to my supervisor and hear more about my assignment and the requirements I need to meet. Today I will also start my Portuguese class (Basic, of course), I am very curious how that is going to end...
But you guys are not only here to talk about my (for you maybe boring) internship but also for my experience in Brazil. I told you that I did not have enough time to get my cpf in the Netherlands. It is very important that you get one. Besides it is an amazing opportunity to get in touch with the Brazillian bureaucracy, waiting, waiting and waiting ;) I suggest you take a permanent cpf when you enter the country. BTW: If you already got your cpf in the Netherlands, you still have to go to Receita Federal because they need to validade your cpf. Yes, so maybe it is even better that you just get it in Brazil. My suggestion is go early, like 7 AM early. Yes, that might mean that you have to get up at 5 but believe me, this is totally worth it. Once you have the tax paid at the bank (description in the link of my last update: Getting used to Brazil) and go to Receita Federal it is pretty easy. You go there and you say this: Eu preciso obter um CPF and they will give you a password (senha). Take place in the waiting room and wait. When your number is shown on the screen, you go to the right counter and you say the same, while giving your passport and the form you recieved from the bank/postoffice. You wait five minutes and you will recieve a paper with your CPF. If you lose it, no problem, go to this website (https://www.receita.fazenda.gov.br/Aplicacoes/SSL/ATCTA/cpf/ImpressaoComprovante/ConsultalImpressao.asp) and print a new one.
Tomorrow I will go to the federal police to register. I hope I can get there on time because tomorrow is the opening of the Olympic Games. But we will see. Wish me luck and take care!
